The Doctors
“Champs shopped like champs: two items, both correct”
The 12-2 wagon had nothing to fix, so they turned draft day into an arbitrage exercise. They traded out of 1.12, sending it to a Boston-hungry Geoff for pick 2.06 plus getting their own 2027 second back, then used 2.06 on Antonio Williams, the best slot receiver in the class and a player with round-1 grades on multiple boards. Six picks of value slid to them for free. Taylen Green at 4.12 is a Cleveland QB room lottery ticket in a Superflex league, which is never wrong at that price. Two picks, one steal, one flyer, zero panic. The roster underneath remains obscene: three top-35 Superflex QBs (Herbert, Mahomes, Purdy), Achane at 24, LaPorta, and 21-year-old Harold Fannin already stashed on taxi from last year's haul.
THE HAUL
Round-1 talent, round-2 price, and they were paid to move down and take him. Surgical.
Taylen Green, CLE. Camp buzz says he is pushing Shedeur. A fourth for a maybe-starter is Superflex free money.
Antonio Williams at 2.06. He was the primary 3.07 target on at least one rival's board and went a full round earlier to the team that needed him least. Rich get richer.
Passing on round 1 entirely in a class this deep is defensible, but the WR room's age curve (Adams 33, Watson 27, Waddle 27) says they needed one more young hit than they got.
3-YEAR OUTLOOK
Reigning contender, window open through 2027The team to beat until someone beats them. Three QB1s in a Superflex league means they win the position weekly, and Achane-LaPorta-Smith is a young enough spine to carry the aging WR edges.
Still top four, but the bill starts arriving: Mahomes 31, Adams retired or close, Aiyuk a question mark. Fannin and Williams need to be starters by now, and the recovered 2027 second suddenly matters.
The fade begins unless the taxi pipeline delivers. Herbert 30 and Purdy 28 keep the QB floor elite, but this is when 12-2 rosters historically pay their tab. Expect them to start selling vets by the 2027 deadline if the repeat does not land.
STASH WATCH
Harold Fannin • Taxi. 21-year-old TE who out-produced his draft slot all rookie year. LaPorta insurance and a 2027 starter.
Antonio Williams • Not taxi-eligible for long. Daniels-adjacent slot receivers get peppered. Startable by midseason.
Jonathon Brooks • Third year post-ACL is the make-or-break. If he is right, he is a top-24 RB for free.
